Is Our Blood A Battery?

October 15, 2020
Red blood cells

Our body, like any other system, has a source of power. Take, for example, batteries. Batteries are devices consisting of chemical cells, mainly alkaline, used to power up other systems.

Without its alkaline properties, a battery will not perform the function of bringing an electrical system to life. The human body needs a battery to function efficiently. Today, we will discuss how you can power your body with your very own alkaline battery.

Building an alkaline body

First off, what is alkalinity? Alkalinity means when a substance has a pH higher than 7. Our body’s blood pH level is 7.4, making it alkaline. In our previous article, we talked about how our blood powers the organ in our body. The blood is a battery, and to help it perform better, we need to fill this battery with alkaline.

So how do we build an alkaline body? Well, to attain alkalinity you should first observe what you put into your body. Does your diet contain foods with high acidity? Start with this question.

To achieve a perfect balance between alkalinity and acidity, your diet should consist of 20% acid-forming foods and 80% alkaline-forming foods. This means you should avoid foods and drinks with high acidities such as soft drinks, red meat, and processed grains. And consume foods with high alkalinities such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, herbs, herbal teas, seeds, and green juice.

What happens if your blood is too acidic?

Recent studies have proven that when your body is too acidic, you’re more susceptible to diseases and environmental toxins. Asides from this, you stand to lose all the benefits of having a more alkaline blood pH level. What are these benefits? Below we list some of them;

  1. Promotes weight loss; It’s a known fact that eating fewer calories leads to weight loss. Alkaline diets comprise fewer calories due to the absence of foods like red beef.
  2. Can help prevent cancer: Some time ago, researchers embarked on a study and found out that consuming less meat and eating more fruits and vegetables can help prevent cancer.
  3. Aids in the prevention of heart disease; Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. And this is due to the consumption of a lot of fatty foods which end up clogging our system. Having a diet that promotes organic food can help lower cholesterol leading to a more healthy lifestyle.
  4. Diseases tend to thrive in a body that acidic in nature. An alkaline body serves as a combatant for various illnesses such as the flu or kidney problems.
